Workplace Violence

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), workplace violence includes any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening behavior that occurs at the work site. In 2023, out of 5,283 fatal workplace injuries in the U.S., 740 were due to violent acts, with homicides accounting for 458 of these fatalities.OSHA+1OSHA+1

Healthcare workers are particularly vulnerable. A survey by the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies found that nearly 75% of Texas nurses experienced some form of violence, harassment, or verbal abuse in the past year. Approximately one-third reported being physically assaulted or sexually harassed.PubMed Central Houston Chronicle
